2023 Yamaha WaveRunner Lineup
What’s New in 2023?
Unlike Sea-Doo, which released some exciting new models for 2023, WaveRunner’s new lineup arrives with minimal changes. In a nutshell, the key upgrades of the 2023 Yamaha WaveRunner lineup are as follows:
- Rec Deck is available on GP and VX families
- Premium audio system comes standard on all FX models (except the FX HO)
- LED-lit glove box, USB port, and microphone for smartphone calls are standard on each FX model
- New color schemes and minor cosmetic changes
- Higher price tags
Let’s drill into the details and take a closer look at these few changes!
2023 Yamaha EX Series
It’s safe to say that the 2023 Yamaha EX family returns without any significant changes.
The base EX model is dressed in White with Azure Blue while the Sport is available in Lime Yellow with White or Cyan.
You can buy the popular EX Deluxe in White with Torch Red or dressed in Cyan with Lime Yellow, and the high-end EX Limited is painted Azure Blue with Cyan.
The prices of these entry-level WaveRunners have been increased by $400-$700 depending on the model:
- 2023 Yamaha EX: MSRP $7,599 (up: $400)
- 2023 Yamaha EX Sport: MSRP $8,899 (up: $600)
- 2023 Yamaha EX Deluxe: MSRP $9,999 (up: $700)
- 2023 Yamaha EX Limited: MSRP $10,599 (up: $700)
2023 Yamaha Freestyle Series
Even though it’s classed as a “Freestyle” PWC, the JetBlaster actually belongs in the Rec-Lite EX family.
This model was released in 2022 as a “wannabe” reincarnation of the deservedly popular WaveBlaster series. But there’s no question that this machine actually remains a rebranded EXR with some Spark Trixx-like accessories.
The color scheme of this ski is now Black with Acid Green rather than having its previous WaveBlaster-like retro paint job.
As one may expect, the price tag has climbed up from $9,999 to $10,699.
This 2023 WaveRunner lineup review wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the only production stand-up WaveRunner. The 2023 Superjet has been carried over completely unchanged from last year’s model and is being marketed for $10,499 (up $700) for this model year.
2023 Yamaha VX Series
If you are looking for a 2023 Yamaha VX WaveRunner, the good news is that the innovative Rec Deck accessory platform is now available for these models.
In other words, the swim platform of the VX family has already been pre-drilled by the factory to make deck installation easier for you or your dealer.
This versatile rear platform extension does a similar job as Sea-Doo’s LinQ connection system, and can accommodate various accessories like a fuel can, storage boxes, coolers, and even a complete fishing rack.
But unlike the competitor’s connectors, this is completely removable and covered by a high-quality MarineMat. Therefore, it can be used as an extended swim platform, which makes it appeal to wakeboarders and skiers.
PWC fishermen will also appreciate the complete JetFish package. which is also available for the Rec Deck as an option.
The Rec Deck was introduced on the 2022 FX series, but now it has found its way to the VX and GP series as well.
The models and price tags of the 2023 VX WaveRunner series are as follows:
- 2023 Yamaha VX-C: MSRP $9,999 (up $500)
- 2023 Yamaha VX: MSRP $11,199(up $700)
- 2023 Yamaha VX Deluxe: MSRP $12,099 (up $850)
- 2023 Yamaha VX Cruiser: MSRP $12,499 (up $950)
- 2023 Yamaha VX Cruiser HO: MSRP $13,299 (up $850)
- 2023 Yamaha VX Limited: MSRP $13,699 (up $850)
- 2023 Yamaha VX Limited HO: MSRP $14,049 (up $950)
2023 Yamaha GP Series
The sporty GP series, including the GP1800R SVHO and the naturally-aspirated GP1800R HP, don’t have very many changes for 2023.
The latter is available in Black with Carbon/Azure Blue with a Cyan color scheme while its supercharged brother is dressed in Black with Acid Green/Azure Blue. The latter comes with the premium audio package as an option.
Unfortunately, the larger 7-inch screen isn’t available on GP models.
The prices of both machines have increased by more than $1000 for this model year:
- 2023 Yamaha GP1800R HO: MSRP $13,149 (up $1,050)
- 2023 Yamaha GP1800R SVHO: MSRP $15,349 (up $1,150)
2023 Yamaha FX Series
The FX price tags of 2023 FX WaveRunners vary between $15,399 and a whopping $19,999.
Except for the entry-level FX HO, all FX WaveRunners are equipped with the advanced audio package. This system includes many advanced features, such as:
- 5-inch waterproof premium marine speakers
- Integrated two-channel amplifier
- Control pad
- Low-voltage regulator (for battery protection)
This advanced audio system can be controlled through the touchscreen display and as well as an easy-access control pad.
Regarding color schemes, the FX HO comes in Azure Blue with White, and the more advanced FX Cruiser HO comes in Carbon with Titan Gray and Cyan. Both feature the base 5-inch Connext display.
In contrast, the supercharged FX line comes with the wider 7-inch Connext touchscreen display as standard.
These models are the FX SVHO and the FX Limited SVHO dressed in Torch Red/Black with Titan Gray and Carbon with Mint, respectively.
The entire FX family comes standard with pre-drilled Rec Deck connection points, USB port, LED-lit glove box, and a built-in smartphone microphone, which makes phone calls much easier during rides.

Conclusion
To the greatest regret of many Yamaha fans, the 2023 WaveRunner lineup returns with minimal changes.
Besides the “mandatory” cosmetic and color changes, we only get a few minor updates and new accessories on the GP, VX, and FX families.
Why don’t we have more innovations for this year?
First, due to supply chain issues, the delivery of many 2022 WaveRunners was delayed much longer than expected.
And let’s face it, the manufacturer doesn’t want to make its models outdated before customers will actually receive them!
The prices of WaveRunners have also skyrocketed for this season. In previous years, prices of WaveRunners typically increased $200-$1,400 bit for this year we see a massive increase of $400-$2,100.
Therefore, the prices of 2023 WaveRunners vary between $7,599 and $19,999.
There is a very good chance that WaveRunners will cross the $20,000 psychological price limit next season!
